Job Description

Title: Director, Applications Engineering

This position is for a Director of Applications Engineering in Skyworks Diversified Analog Solutions Business unit. The role is focused largely on Connectivity solutions (i.e. Wi-Fi, GPS, UWB, etc.) products but will also require occasional support on IoT, Bluetooth, and Automotive products.

You will be responsible for leading a global product team of applications engineers supporting the design in, adoption and customer support of Skyworks best-in-class Connectivity solutions. This combination of goals requires exceptional technical, interpersonal, developmental and inspirational leadership skills, combined with a natural desire to win.

Job Responsibilities

This position requires strong cross-functional team building skills, including Marketing, System Engineering, Program Management, Product/Test Engineering, and Product Line Management. You must have an excellent understanding of high efficiency, power amplifiers and integrated RF front-end multi-chip modules (PAs, acoustic filters/duplexers, antenna RF switches, couplers, LNAs and all associated impedance matching) for the communications market. Demonstrated excellent communication skills, customer interface skills and a passion for technical leadership is a must.

• As an Applications Engineering Director, you will have both an internal and external facing role. Internally, you will be working with our design teams to help optimize customer reference designs and you will interface directly with our Product Line Management, Systems, and Marketing teams. Externally, you will be involved in optimizing customer designs and to provide direction to our customers. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of RF and WLAN design and will have excellent communication and analytical skills.

• Travel to support and partner sites.

• Support Digital predistortion, RF test equipment, RF PCB design, RF test and troubleshooting of RF circuits and RF systems analysis.

• Work with internal and external partners to support, optimize and enable total radio solutions.

• Resource allocation and tracking to ensure excellent internal and external customer support.

• Ensure new team members are properly trained and mentored, and all team members are developing to their full potential

• Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding activities of top-notch talent

• Provide regular updates to Senior Management on progress toward meeting our goals

Qualifications

• BSEE + 15 years relevant technical experience or MSEE (preferred) + 12 years

• 6+ years’ leadership experience

• Strong background in fundamental RF and systems design

• Excellent presentation and communication skills

• Strong data analysis skills

• Experience in Front End or Module level development

• Experience leading multidiscipline teams and working across boundaries

• Experience in team management

• Up to 25% travel (domestic & international)

The typical base pay range for this role is currently CAD $147,600 - $265,500 per year . Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, and the ultimate job duties and requirements. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock. These incentives and awards are based on individual and/or company performance.
