NY1525538 Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc., the flagship company of Giotto Enterprises, is seeking a General Machinist at its Oriskany, NY location to safely perform various milling, turning, drilling and related operations used to produce components for the fiber optic and telecom industry. Runs are typically of limited quantities produced in a small shop environment. CNC programming experience would be a significant plus. Must have machining experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Set up and operate lathes/mills/drills and related machine tools Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speeds/feeds) Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines Inspect parts using precision measuring tools Address issues that might occur during the machining process Provide regular quality checks to detect specification non-compliances Keep records of approved and defective units or final products Maintain activity logs REQUIREMENTS Proven experience as a general machine operator with various manual, semi-automated, and/or automated tools / machines (Vertical Manual Mill, HAAS 3 AXIS Vertical Mill, CNC Lathe, Surface Grinder, Band Saw / Belt Sander / Drill Press) Working knowledge of meas. tools (calipers, micrometers, pin gages, etc.) Understanding of production procedures Adherence to health and safety regulations Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals Attention to detail In depth knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials. Good verbal, written and listening communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure. Must be able to work independently. Attention to detail and focus on consistent quality. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION High school with 5 yrs experience (Minimum) Associates / Certificate with 3 yrs min. experience OTHER Position involves: standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, and ability to frequently twist, bend and lift up to 50 lbs. max. in an indoor, factory workplace environment. This is a full-time position, M-F, 1st shift: 7:00am -3:30pm Must be able to reliably commute to Oriskany, NY. Important: Wage rate will be commensurate with position, shift worked, experience, education and required skill level. Pay: From $20.00 per hour Job Type: Full-time
