Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a Fixed Equipment Reliability Analyst to join the Golden Triangle Polymers facility in Orange, TX, that will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.

Initially, this position will be focused on Operational Readiness, establishing our site's mechanical integrity strategies, and programs for inspection of fixed equipment. The role will also be focused ensuring the equipment is properly commissioned and ready to support a safe, orderly, and timely start-up of the facility. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional reliability role characterized by normal plant operations.

This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and complete Operational Readiness activities supporting the commissioning and startup of the facility.

  • Assist in the commissioning of new equipment.

  • Support initial monitoring and baselining of equipment.

  • Participate in system completion walkdowns and PSSRs.

  • Develop the Inspection, Testing, and Preventative Maintenance methodologies for fixed equipment ensuring they follow company and industry standards.

  • Oversee and lead the assessments of both the mechanical integrity covered equipment and equipment criticality.

  • Support Meridium APM site implementation.

  • Consult with Corporate Reliability Team for implementation of new reliability programs and standards.

  • Develop and approve equipment repair procedures and establish the needed quality control verifications.

  • Ensure continued safe, reliable operations for the facility through support of high/emergency priority fixed equipment issues.

  • Lead the facility towards a mindset of design/repair for long-term reliability.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Use the Meridium APM bad actor dashboard for identification and elimination of fixed equipment bad actors.

  • Review and development of equipment mechanical integrity and reliability work processes and procedures.

  • Support unit damage mechanism reviews and risk-based inspection assessments.

  • Perform and review inspections of fixed equipment (both compliance and repairs), develop and manage recommendations and communicate corrective actions to customers.

  • Utilize, maintain, and manage APM reliability database of fixed equipment inspection findings, condition monitoring, and recommendations for assigned area ensuring PSM compliance.

  • Utilize data to analyze and make proactive recommendations to prevent equipment failure.

  • Perform and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and incident investigations.

  • Develop repair scopes and procedures for fixed equipment in assigned area.

  • Participate in planning and scheduling process with operations and maintenance personnel to follow up on work notifications for routine or TA activities.

  • Support Capital and Expense Project work by providing technical support to customers in assigned area.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Minimum 5 years certified in API 510 and 570 (active)

  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in the Petrochemical or Refining Industry

  • Knowledge of industry Codes and Standards and inspection techniques such as ASME, API, ASNT, etc.

  • Proven ability through experience to analyze equipment performance and troubleshoot equipment problems

  • Demonstrated radiographic film interpretation experience

  • Understanding of the application and limitations of industrial NDT methods

  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in API 653

  • Working knowledge of API 580, CWI and NACE CIP 1/2/3, NACE CP 1/2

  • General Ethylene, Polyethylene or Utility manufacturing process experience and background in associated equipment inspection

  • Working knowledge of APM and SAP

  • Working knowledge of PRD compliance processes and failure analysis
