Job Description

• The Sr & Principal Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for the full software development life cycle.

• Working on a small team and leading programs, the Embedded Systems Engineer will be tasked with architecture development, implementation, code reviews, and testing.

Essential Duties:

• Oversee the Entire Software Development Life Cycle: From capturing requirements to software architecture, implementation, and testing within the Medical Device sector.

• Develop Project Software Plans: Utilize either agile or waterfall methodologies to create comprehensive development plans.

• Collaborate with Program Management: Work together to create precise software project schedules.

• Provide Architectural Guidance: Mentor engineers, evaluate new technologies, and establish best practices.

• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams.

• Translate High-Level Requirements: Assist the software development team in converting high-level requirements into detailed specifications and support the documented software architecture.

• Ensure Architectural Compliance: Participate in code and design reviews to verify that the architecture is implemented as planned.

• Embedded Linux Development: Focus on user space application development and maintenance.

• User Interface Development: Develop and sustain user interface applications.

Hard Skills

• C++ (version 14 & 17)

• RTOS (open to any platform)

• Microcontroller experience (STM family or any microcontroller)

• Development in the Medical Device industry

• QT/QML or similar UI software

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Orange, California and some days remote.

Work Environment

Medical Device R&D site with 40 team members nationally and 12 locally. Engineering team consists of Software, Firmware & Hardware.
