Area Manager Job Description
Principal Accountabilities:
Oversee the daily activities of a highly automated warehouse. Keeps employees engaged in all distribution center activities including: shipping, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, stacking, picking, and packing finished products.
Responsible for identifying space requirements and coordinating needs for storage with delivery and distribution schedules to achieve distribution center goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
Duties also include maintenance of automated equipment and powered equipment, ensuring a safe work environment, and to suggest process/procedure changes for increased efficiency
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
High School Degree or GED Equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree to be determined by the nature of the specific job and the hiring manager’s criteria
Generally six years of progressive experience with one year of supervisory experience
Strong organization and communication skills
Knowledge & Application:
Acquires depth of expertise in multiple technical work areas and on track to becoming a subject matter expert.
Acquiring management experience within a automated driven environment with extensive experience in a large or complex technical area
Knowledge of standardized rules, procedures, and operations within multiple areas
Determines a course of action based on guidelines and modifies processes and methods as required
Requires knowledge of company policies, practices, and procedures
Adopts holistic perspective that considers data, analytics, consumer insights, and different parts of the business

People management responsibility for pay reviews, performance management, training, and resource planning
Position overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing multiple areas within a shift. Ensure the accurate and timely operation of Inbound, Processing, Outbound, Returns, Q.A. & Inventory, and Value Added Services (VAS). Establish control-related standards and procedures.

Promotes a Safety culture environment while ensuring training and compliance of all VF Safety policies/procedures and any other related safety requirements.
Establishes and cultivates morale and engagement of team members. Encourages team member participation in workplace activities and events. Establishes and directs positive communication channels between cross-functional teams (HR, Maintenance, Safety & Operations team)
Monitor daily performance forecast as it relates to DC productivity/efficiency. Leverages all performance management, KPI, DC Balancing and Flow applicable to managing daily DC functional area performance.
Assist in training and development of team in collaboration with DC trainers. Ensures compliance with all established DC SOP’s for each applicable functional area.
Advocates and actively participates in continuous improvement culture, while utilizing LEAN methodology.
Maintains appropriate and required records for team members, attendance, training and KPI’s under their responsibility.
Participates in administrative activities, which may include defining resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to meet business objectives. Assists in managing daily staffing needs for designated department: vacations, monitors turnover and volume.
Job Requirements:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 4-6+
Educational/Position Requirements:
High school or GED equivalent required,
Bachelor degree preferred and 4-6 years plus of equivalent warehouse experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Skills:

Proficient in core computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Ability to interact with all levels of management with confidence and respect.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience and proficiency with WMS (PkMS) or other comparable WMS, RF and MHE technologies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
Bi-lingual - Spanish preferred
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours including weekends as necessary.
Bend lift, open, and move product from 1 to 50lbs.
Warehouse environment: Must be physically capable of working in conditions normally associated with a merchandise warehouse or distribution center, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, seeing and hearing moving equipment to stay out of harms way, and continuous power equipment noise.
Hiring Range :
$69,520.00 USD - $86,900.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
