Job Description

As a Shop Hand, you will be responsible for the daily cleaning of the branch service department, maintaining an orderly yard, cleaning all units brought into the facility, receiving and shipping equipment, assisting all departments in obtaining repair parts or materials needed, and other general service department duties as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the shop is maintained and clean daily.

  • Clean all units before and after repair is completed by the technician.

  • Clean and maintain the yard and attachments.

  • Fuel and inspect all company-owned equipment.

  • Operate a forklift.

  • Complete shipping and receiving documentation with photos for all company-owned equipment and attachments using an iPad.

  • Assist the Branch Manager with inventory control as needed.

  • Assist the parts and sales departments in acquiring and delivering parts needed by the service department.

  • Assist the sales department with the delivery of demonstration sales equipment as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and directed by corporate management.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools used for repair, maintenance, and cleaning of facilities.

  • Forklift operation proficiency.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Accuracy in processing work.

  • Timely completion of required documentation and reports.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet.

  • Basic knowledge of office machines including copier, fax, and printer.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.

  • Openness to new procedures, technology, and structure.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in equipment operation, mechanical tasks, construction, or farm work.

  • Ability to work mostly outdoors using a forklift to move parts and pallets.

  • Training on operating equipment to move around the yard, stage, and load onto lowboys.

  • Indoor work involving cleaning equipment.

  • Experience using an iPad to take pictures of vehicles and check for damages.

  • Basic mechanical duties such as checking fluids and performing oil changes.

  • General labor skills including handling hand tools, washing, and cleaning.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced and high-stress setting, predominantly outdoors in a large heavy equipment shop. You will be working around trucks and construction equipment, with most duties performed in the yard. The role involves physical activities such as lifting and pushing a minimum of 50 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, crawling, crouching, standing, and kneeling for extended periods. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, with the possibility of some evenings and weekends. You will be working alongside one other yard attendant and reporting to the Rental Manager.

This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, Nebraska.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
