Job Title: Machine Shop Manager
Job Description
Currently seeking an energetic individual committed to representing the company in a positive manner as the machining division manager. This position requires an experienced machinist who will oversee the machine shop. They are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the machining department, the employees, teamwork environment, equipment, and production output. This person needs to have a vision and motivation to promote company growth. The machining manager is responsible for ensuring that the team has adequate support to be successful, producing quality parts in a healthy and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare schedules and direct job workflow through the shop
Research, specify, and order raw stock, ensuring raw materials/WIP and job documentation are correct and available
Assist with the interpretation of 2D blueprints/3D CAD models and tolerancing, generating or coordinating drawings as necessary
Create or collaborate with engineers to produce Solid model drawings of parts and tooling
Help select and organize cutting tools for upcoming jobs
Collaborate with purchasing and receiving to ensure adequate tools are available for jobs when starting
Reload tool vending machines and monitor tool performance
Work with engineering/programming and machinists to ensure programs are available for machining jobs
Support machinists with CNC programs and processes
Create job travelers for new and ongoing work, ensuring travelers are correctly completed, work instructions are followed, and time logging is tracked
Maintain preventative maintenance and service records using Unipoint software
Provide or arrange training for machinists as needed and support cross-training efforts
Mentor and support team members, maintaining a positive work environment
Communicate issues and needs to appropriate management and support other departments as needed
Support company quality policy and quality management system
Support company safety policy and code of conduct expectations
Create and prepare contract review forms for new work, mitigating risk and ensuring capabilities before taking on new work
Conduct first article inspections and final inspections in collaboration with the quality department
Research and respond to email inquiries both internally and externally
Prepare, schedule, and conduct/coordinate safety meetings
Respond to inquiries and questions from machine shop personnel
Regular reporting and strategizing with management and key personnel
Monitor KPI levels with a focus on continuous improvement
Essential Skills
Minimum 5 years' experience as a machinist or equivalent technical experience
Proficient with manual and CNC machining/programming
Fluent in G-code
Skilled communicator with the ability to work well in a highly motivated team environment
Strong Microsoft Office Suite capabilities
Experience with steel, aluminum, hard metals, and weldments
Familiarity with Unipoint, SolidWorks, project management software, MS365, and Exact JobBoss

Work Environment
The work environment consists of three separate buildings (HR/Admin building, Machining Division building, Diamond Division building). The machine shop is a mix of both manual/conventional machinery and CNC (primarily Lathe). It is a highly energetic and fast-paced production floor with a large emphasis on safety and quality.

This is a Permanent position based out of Olympia, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
