Job Summary and Qualifications

This position is responsible for functioning in a lead role in organizing and completing repairs and maintenance of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical areas throughout the hospital in a safe and expedient manner.

  • Accountable for adhering to ORMC mission, including meeting behavioral expectations (compassion,

  • Caring and confidentiality), providing excellence in health care delivery, supporting dignity of all persons

  • (Empowerment) and responsible stewardship of resources.

  • Supervises departmental policies and procedures, standards of work performance for the maintenance and repair of non-medical equipment, buildings and building systems including boilers and other equipment which provides heat, cooling, steam, hot water, telephone services, electricity, sanitation and medical gases.

  • Implements and directs a preventive maintenance program to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant and all related operating equipment. Maintains documentation of all maintenance repairs and testing as required by applicable codes and directives.

  • Implements and directs a Work Repair program to provide scheduled and emergency corrective repairs to all installed and moveable equipment within the facilities.

  • Develops and participates in a continuing departmental training and orientation program in the repair and maintenance of all equipment. Alerts personnel regarding safety and hazards to ensure safe procedures and equipment.

  • Maintains stock levels of materials and parts within budget limitations.

  • Maintains repair and replacement records and controls to maintain facilities within projected budget constraints. Provides input of costs and projected budget requirements.

  • Maintains energy management programs to insure compliance with Corporate, State and Federal Requirements.

  • Supervises and directs assigned staff to include staffing, scheduling, interviewing and hiring, evaluating work performance, counseling, disciplining and terminating. Participates in the adjustment of employee grievances.

  • Coordinates fire and safety measures throughout the facilities. Coordinates fire inspections, safety inspections and procedures in conjunction with Security and Safety Department.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Electrical/Mechanical experience

  • Previous experience in related field

  • FEMA/NIMS certification within 90 days of hire

  • Requires working knowledge of shop, math, mechanics, electricity and general studies.

  • Previous experience in related facility maintenance is required. Must have knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, as well as, professional and governmental regulations relating to Plant Maintenance.

  • Must have knowledge and skills in electrical/Mechanical areas, carpentry and plumbing. Must have knowledge of safe working practices in the operation and repair of equipment.

  • Must have knowledge in the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment including saws, drills, welding equipment, boilers, compressors, generators, air handlers, refrigeration units, etc.

  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings and manufacturers specifications.
