We are looking for a very experienced Product Manager to lead our current and future portfolio of robot controllers and teach pendants. Our controllers and teach pendants are central elements to the entire cobot customer experience. Our controllers are used by novices and advanced integrators alike, and in a wide variety of applications, environments and levels of integration. In like manner, our teach pendants are central to the on-robot software and programming user experience. The hardware ergonomics, the UI responsiveness, environmental ruggedness and serviceability are all key tenets of our teach pendant design. And now is the perfect time to join as we are now kicking off the planning and development of our next-generation family of robot controllers and teach pendants.

You, as the Senior Product Manager – Cobot Hardware, will turn the unique challenges our customers face into product requirements and deliver a clear product vision for a portfolio of next-generation controllers and teach pendant products. You will define the highest-value differentiated features in the different models, set market pricing, understand UR’s competitive positioning and more. Along this journey your amazing leadership, market experience, product management and customer skills will help you scope out and collaborate to develop and execute the plan.

You are a strategist who enjoys understanding and leveraging how organizations run, you understand how to get things done and collaborate with peers and stake holders, you love spending time with customers, sales and engineering. And you think out of the box, dig deeper to understand the root of problem statements and translate the company’s high-level vision into actions, taking us where no one has ever dared. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive the product strategy for robot controllers and teach pendants that keeps the promise of UR cobots to deliver the best cobot user experience in the world

  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Sales, Product Marketing and Research to develop new market-driven products and features and to launch and promote products that grow our cobot sales

  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into customer problem statements and smart requirements for our products, applications, and solutions

  • Conduct market assessments and voice of the customer interviews, as well as prepare sales, marketing, and training materials

  • Continuously understand competitive offerings, maintain knowledge of competitive features and use this information to influence our product plan and future vision

  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking, multi-year roadmap for our robot controllers and teach pendants

  • Work closely with engineering throughout the product development process; be a constant advocate for the customer, provide continuous guidance for product teams, and lead tradeoff negotiation and prioritization discussions

    Robotic experience is not required, but an understanding of the industrial automation market and the products is strongly preferred. It’s key that you are tech savvy and passionate about building platform products that enable customer satisfaction, and that you have excellent people and management skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams and external partners. Working with outsourcing, outside design houses, contract manufacturers is highly desired.

Furthermore, we are looking for someone who can meet the following requirements:

  • You have 8-10 years experience in product management

  • A degree in engineering, computer science or other technical discipline

  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders; must be comfortable being a public speaker in front of large, senior groups

  • You are comfortable facilitating planning and decision-making across several teams, including partners, and know how to encourage and empower teams to get things done.

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle and driving successful business outcomes

  • Metrics-driven: track record of leveraging strong analytical and quantitative skills and data to make assumptions and drive decisions

  • You care deeply about the user experience and have extensive knowledge in design principals, UX, quantitative and qualitative research

  • Experience with best practice agile scrum development and lean startup principles a plus

  • You currently lead a team or are ready to take on the next challenge of Product Management
