Choice Hotels Openings Services Manager in North Bethesda, Maryland

Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as an Opening Services Manager in the Opening Services Department. The Opening Services Department is the team that works directly with Choice franchisees to open and rebrand their properties. We work with several internal and external stakeholders to move the opening project from contract execution to activation in the Choice reservation system. Our work directly contributes to net unit growth for the company.

As a key member of our Opening Services team, you will partner with a field team member and serve as the key contact in the corporate office for the franchisees. You will manage your portfolio to meet company targets and objectives and will provide an excellent opening experience for new and existing franchisees.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work with minimal supervision to manage a portfolio of properties (typically working with 20-30 properties at any given time).

  • Partner with Development and conduct research to determine the tailored approach for each opening.

  • Handle complex issues that may involve several stakeholders across the company, including senior team members.

  • Anticipate issues and roadblocks to openings.

  • Understand the nuances of each project and the importance of managing the franchisee relationship.

  • Become a subject matter expert in various programs and areas of the company.

  • Report out on the progress of projects in a timely manner.

  • Travel 3 – 6 times per year to project sites, team meetings and convention.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5 - 8 years project management experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Must enjoy striving for success in a team environment.

  • The ability and motivation to handle crucial and difficult conversations confidently.

  • Is able to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrates key competencies to include attention to detail, customer focus, and project management.

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director of Openings Services. You will have 9 peer teammates and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Opening Services Manager, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
