The Collections Department is the team that recovers payments on account, ultimately reducing the company’s DSO. As a key member of our Collections Department, you will contact delinquent franchisees to collect past due balances and discuss reasons and solutions for non-payment of accounts.

Your Responsibilities

• Handle a high volume (50-60+ daily) of outbound and inbound collection calls, challenge resolution, and customer service issues.

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts.

• Assist with Dunning process.

• Maintain notes and documentation of collection activities in Peoplesoft.

• Prepare, track, and follow up on uncured Default notices.

• Recommend Reservation Suspension on uncured Default notices.

• Recommend termination of past due customers as applicable.

• Accountable for reduction in Aged Receivables and maintenance over DSO under 30 days.

• Reconcile customer accounts as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.

• Coordinate with relevant groups- billing, sales, legal, accounting, etc. to resolve customer inquiries and disputes.

• Assist with Dunning process.

• Assist with Default letter preparation.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience

• At least 1-3 years experience in Collections preferred

• Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

• Demonstrates key competencies to include

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Collections Supervisor. You will have 4 peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

As our Collections Specialist, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.
