THIS POSITION WILL BE OPEN UNTIL FILLED THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION Job Title: INSTRUCTOR Part Time Temporary Department: ADULT EDUCATION Salary: \$20.00 per hour GRANT FUNDED Summary of Duties: To teach GED/ABE (reading, writing, and math). The ABE program is available to learners who have not completed high school, are not enrolled in a secondary program, and whose educational skill levels range from beginning literacy through 8th grade. The instructional program is focused on fundamental reading, writing, and math skills. The GED preparation program is designed for learners who have not completed high school, who are not enrolled in a secondary program, and whose educational skill levels range from 9th through 12th grade. These classes provide instruction in higher-order thinking skill in the five content areas of the GED test and leads to a transition to post-secondary education and/or training opportunities Qualifications: One (1) year prior teaching experience in the field of reading, writing, and mathematics. Bachelor\'s Degree preferred but not required; the ability to pass an approved paraprofessional test; the ability to meet specific requirements as to age, background, physical condition and character as may be established by Santa Cruz County. The ideal candidate must have teaching experience and bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish, completion of a post high school course/program in Office Management or closely related area may substitute for one year required experience, fingerprint clearance required.
