Job Title: Family Law Attorney

Location: Newport News, VA

Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 annually, plus billable hour and origination bonuses

Experience Level: Junior to Mid-Level

About Us:

We are working with a growing regional law firm currently seeking a talented Family Law Attorney . This is an excellent opportunity for both junior and mid-level attorneys looking to advance their careers in a supportive and collaborative environment. The Family Law Attorney will handle a diverse caseload involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and other family law matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience and a passion for family law. Junior candidates with at least one year of litigation experience are welcome to apply, as are more experienced attorneys with a background in family law.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, child support, and alimony.

• Prepare legal documents such as petitions, motions, and affidavits.

• Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda.

• Provide sound legal advice and strategy to clients.

• Appear in court for hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.

• Negotiate settlements and manage client expectations throughout the legal process.

• Collaborate with clients, experts, and colleagues to build strong case strategies.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law trends and changes in legislation.

  Requirements

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in Virginia.

• Junior candidates: At least one year of litigation experience; family law experience is a plus but not required.

• Mid-Level candidates: Proven experience in family law practice with a strong understanding of relevant statutes and case law.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
