SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 3:30 PM.

Days off: Saturday/Sunday

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of carpentry practices, terminology and safe handling of tools and equipment. Ability to operate common woodworking machinery, prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of materials and labor, read blueprints and recognize lumber types and grades. Ability to keep simple records and basic math skills. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, maintain required records, and read and understand manuals and drawings. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in order to meet the needs of the unit and its customers.

REQUIRED MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Minimum of four (4) years' experience in the trade as a journeyman.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to routinely move, lift and/or carry, with or without assistance, equipment, parts, and job related materials exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move, lift, and/or carry objects. Ability to accurately discern colors. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in order to drive University of Delaware vehicles to get to and from job sites. Must provide all hand tools necessary to perform assigned duties.

Facilities Management may or may not offer traineeships for any vacant positions in Local 3472 under the terms of Article X of the collective bargaining agreement.
