Summary:
At Cross-Meta Security (X-Sec) our mission is to protect the company, our community, and its data while empowering safe innovation. Within X-Sec, the Detect & Respond (XDR) pillar aims to minimize the harm caused by unauthorized access or inappropriate usage of Meta’s systems and data. To do so, we build platforms and services to help us detect, investigate, contain and recover from Security Incidents as early as possible. We focus on both external cyber threats and internal abuse. Surface Coverage (SC) is one of four sub-pillars within XDR, and our vision is to detect 100% of known critical threats across Meta’s business - critical surfaces. SC Software engineering team’s mission is to develop advanced Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) agents & response tooling that provides telemetry, prevention, detection, and response capabilities across systems in diverse environments. We focus on efficient, scalable and innovative solutions that enable us to effectively monitor system activity, swiftly process alerts, remediate security incidents, and mitigate potential threats.We are seeking an engineering leader with experience supporting a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining critical security infrastructure for the next phase of growth and innovation at Meta. This is a unique opportunity to develop industry-leading security tooling at the scale and speed of one of the largest infrastructure deployments in the world. We work across all parts of the company, from corporate infrastructure to production to external services, interfacing with nearly every organization in the company.

Software Engineering Manager - Surface Coverage Responsibilities:
Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level
Participate in technical design and strategy
Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
Partner with leadership to influence and drive organizational design, contribution and prioritization
Lead and guide engineering values to sustain a high performance team
Integrate security in a constantly evolving environment where process is fluid and resourceful solutions are the norm
Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with cross-functional partners to enable the team’s to effectively and efficiently execute on project work
Hire, grow, and build a team capable of achieving our mission
Work across partners in Product Management, Data Science, and Data Engineering to design and iterate on metrics and goals related to attack enumeration and detection coverage and validation
Minimum Qualifications:

BS/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
10+ years of Software Engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management
2+ years of hands-on technical management in security software engineering in product-led environments
Proven track record of supporting engineering teams
Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
Demonstrated experience in working across organizational boundaries to achieve company-wide impact
Experience leading and managing complex cross-functional programs
Knowledge of operating systems, file systems, and memory structures on Windows, MacOS and Linux

Specialization in one or more Security domains, experience with Public Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and large scale containerized environments is a significant plus
Background in security-focused software engineering, designing large scale systems and data pipelines, or in offensive security
Broad knowledge across the Security domain, as well as demonstrated experience in one (or more) areas such as Log and events processing, Incident Management, Detection and/or Response tooling development
Broad knowledge across systems design, and detection engineering domains
Public Compensation:
$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
