Description We are inviting applications for the role of Property Accountant at our New York location. As a Property Accountant, you'll be entrusted with maintaining and reconciling the general ledgers for various residential properties under minimal supervision. This role is a part of the Real Estate & Property industry and offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the reconciliation of account balances for various residential properties
• Prepare and post journal entries, with a focus on accruals
• Uphold the responsibility of creating and maintaining work papers in support of account balances
• Ensure the timely compilation of monthly reporting packages and adherence to reporting deadlines on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Monitor and manage cash activity and accounts receivable/payable
• Utilize Yardi and MRI for accounting functions
• Leverage advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for functions such as pivot tables, macros, and VLOOKUPS
• Respond to requests to perform duties outside of normal responsibilities as and when needed. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for data management and financial analysis.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor relationship management.
• Familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoice creation, payment processing, and client relationship management.
• Ability to manage and track all cash activity, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
• Proficiency in Yardi and/or MRI software for property management and accounting.
• Experience with account reconciliation, including identifying discrepancies and making necessary adjustments.
• Experience in property accounting, with an understanding of industry-specific financial requirements and standards.
