Summary/Objective

This role is dedicated to safeguarding the physical and mental well-being of employees by promoting safe work practices, maintaining secure work conditions, and ensuring a safe work environment. The position involves overseeing employee health and safety across our nationwide plants, which includes managing safety programs, systems, policies, training, machine guarding, risk management, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations and audits. Additionally, this role supports EHS Managers in implementing plant environmental programs, systems, policies, training, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State EPA regulations and audits.

Essential Functions

  • · Assist the Regional Safety Engineer with data collection and EHS program development and implementation

  • · Collaborate with the EHS team on daily departmental activities

  • · Help coordinate and prepare reports, training manuals, and programs

  • · Assist with industrial hygiene assessments, including air monitoring and noise surveys

  • · Conduct needs analysis and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • · Support safety oversight for the US office network and remote worker safety program

  • · Aid in incident and near-miss reporting and investigations

  • · Assist in developing documented risk assessments for activities and locations

  • · Monitor regulatory requirements using a third-party online resource

  • · Collaborate with local management and HR on driver safety program data and incident reporting

  • · Respond to support requests and develop SHE communications for compliance

  • · Partner with Real Estate and Facilities Management to establish inspection programs

  • · Work on assigned projects, including special projects

Required Education and Experience

  • · Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, or a related field

  • · Experience in environmental, health, and safety within a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required for an intern role

  • · Basic understanding of risk analysis and safety regulations

  • · Familiarity with OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods is a plus.

  • · Interest in learning industry best practices for safety and environmental approaches

  • · Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisor responsibility.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use fingers to type.
