This is a fully remote role unless chosen candidate prefers to work in a nearby TNC office. The role can be located anywhere that TNC is registered to work. These include the following countries: Africa (Angola, Gabon, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia); Asia Pacific (Australia, China, Guam, India, Indonesia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands); Caribbean (The Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands); Europe (Belgium, Croatia, Germany, United Kingdom); Latin America (Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru); North America (Canada- Only Alberta, Ontario and Northwest Territories, United States). Please note, if you are located in Nairobi, Kenya, you will be required to work in the office at least two days a week.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Director of the Finance Resource Center directs the activities and personnel for all aspects of a finance or accounting area at the corporate level or for a major organizational unit or corporate function.

The Director of the Finance Resource Center is responsible for directing the activities and personnel of the Finance Resource Center (FRC). The FRC includes a diverse team located throughout the globe. The Director manages the FRC team's activities as they provide training, communication, and support for all Finance and related staff across the organization. They are a subject matter expert in financial processes and serves as a resource to the entire organization or Finance business unit, as applicable, including as an advisor to senior-level staff. They are the primary liaison on matters about their program area. They work closely with functions in the Finance business unit and with other departments and organizational units as necessary for the effective functioning of their program area. In addition, the Director designs and directs the implementation of major strategic initiatives as it relates to finance training, communications and support. The Director of the Finance Resource Center reports directly to the Deputy Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES and SCOPE

  • Leads strategic initiatives in collaboration with senior-level stakeholders to ensure they all align effectively with t e organization's mission and program goals in accordance with short- and long-term objectives.
  • Coordinates activities between multiple high-level interdepartmental projects with enterprise-wide impact without directly managing them. Instead, giving detailed attention to program strategy, project delegation, and program implementation.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to enhance performance around training, communications, and support of finance staff across the organization.
  • Works toward meeting strategic priorities by developing and managing plans and strategies. Focuses on long-range strategic priorities.
  • Works with fellow leaders to establish and evaluate policies and long-term programs.
  • Directs the development and implementation of a strategic, integrated, and collaborative approach across the organization.
  • Develops and manages budgets, working within budgets, and negotiating and contracting with vendors.
  • Decisions may have a program-wide impact and may bind the organization or organizational unit financially and legally.
  • Overall management for administrative and professional staff, oversees day-to-day work.
  • Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for ethical compliance.
  • Participates in formulating and evaluating broad policies, standards, and processes.
  • Reports to senior leadership on functional activities.

  • Experience using high levels of patience, perseverance, and political savvy to manage inclusive processes in a highly decentralized environment.
  • Successful experience in developing, directing, and managing multiple projects.
  • Superb communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Experience with GAAP and not-for-profit accounting principles, practices, and regulations, including government grants accounting and reporting.
  • Experience working with information management systems and financial reports.
  • Technical expert on complex accounting/financial issues.
  • MBA.
  • Professional certification as a CPA or CIA, or candidacy for same.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 7 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
