Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Researcher IV for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology & Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join our research team to work on a recently funded NIH grant with the aim of developing a new drug for treating bone diseases.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in the conduct of sponsored research projects involving studies on calcium, bone metabolism and parathyroid hormone (PTH) function.
  • Performs biochemical and molecular biology experiments and analyses of skeletal tissues in the field of signal transduction.
  • Assists with maintaining mouse colonies in the laboratory and culturing cells from mouse pups. Laboratory procedures to be conducted by the incumbent will include cell culture, qRT-PCR, enzyme assays, immunofluorescence, genotyping, uCT of bone histomorphometry and ELISAs.
  • Trains and leads students through various laboratory-related activities.
  • Handles routine ordering of laboratory supplies, maintenance of research supplies, and day-to-day maintenance of the laboratory's space and equipment.
  • Prepares technical documentation and reports, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Laboratory-based experience with cell culture, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and imaging.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a scientific discipline.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Laboratory environment. Universal precautions are mandatory.
  • This position may require occasional evening and/or weekend work.
Special Conditions
  • This is a grant-funded position contingent on the availability of continued grant funding.
