Craven Community College Testing Proctor in New Bern, North Carolina

Occupational Summary

The Testing Proctor is responsible for proctoring a variety of tests for Craven Community College students and the community. The Testing Proctor provides helpdesk support to students and performs a variety of computer, telephone, proctoring, and customer service activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides customers with test instructions, exam timings, and passes out testing materials
  • Provides high quality customer service, reception, and accurate intake for all visitors
  • Verifies personal identifications while checking potential testers into the Testing Center
  • Ensures that testers do not possess any materials that are in violation of tests protocols and maintains a secure locker system for tester's personal items
  • Obtains and maintains testing certifications for a variety of testing companies
  • Administers placement tests, health science admissions exams, BLET assessments and proctors internal and external tests
  • Ensures that testing policies and protocols are followed for each testing company and each individual test
  • Monitors testers remotely, via a video monitoring system, and face-to-face in the exam rooms to ensure testers do not indulge in misconduct
  • Maintains the security of tester information
  • Takes disciplinary action in the event of misconduct on a testers part
  • Assists and administers ADA testing services and monitors the use of assistive technology when needed
  • Answers a high volume of inbound calls and maintains a response rate swiftly in accordance with mandated standards
  • KeepsTutortracrecords updatedand enters all testing times into Tutortrac
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years' experience in an office environment.

Preferred:

Two (2) years' experience in an educational environment.

Two (2) years' experience proctoring exams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge

  • North Carolina placement test procedures
  • ADA testing accommodations
  • Working knowledge of the college's student information system (Colleague)

Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency with computer software programs important to testing administration and data management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Analyzing complex problems, identifying solutions, and demonstrating critical thinking
