RandD Lab Technician Direct Hire - Naugatuck, CT

Responsibilities:

Lab Testing and Equipment:

• Operate lab instruments such as TOC and TGA
• Perform basic lab tests including density, particle size, moisture, and hardness

Lab Work:

• Follow lab safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE and understanding hazard symbols
• Prepare and test lab samples and prototypes (50-500 grams)
• Mix dry and wet blends using kitchen blenders and rotary mixers
• Handle non-hazardous and some hazardous chemicals (e.g., solvents, acids, and high-concentration nutraceuticals)
• Document formulations, test results, and maintain inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Keep the lab clean, organized, and stocked with necessary equipment
• Work closely with other departments, including QC/QA, Regulatory, and Sales
• Use MS Excel for data tracking and calculations

Pilot and Production Support:

• Learn and operate machinery for upscaling to larger batches (up to 500 kg)
• Assist in scaling lab processes to production, handling materials weighing 10-50 lbs.
• Understand how small-scale concepts transition to large-scale production

Additional Details:

• Includes 10-15 hours of administrative duties per week
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently or in a team
