Position Summary: The Exercise Physiologist (EP) is responsible to provide a safe and effective cardiac rehabilitation program. The EP is responsible for providing monitored exercise therapy and patient education for patients and will evaluate, instruct and monitor patients throughout the rehab program. The EP understands normal and abnormal cardiopulmonary responses to exercise and is able to identify musculoskeletal disorders and complication related to the patient treatment plan and takes appropriate measures. The EP understands and implements the comprehensive approach to cardiac rehabilitation and overall integrates the components of clinician, teacher, consultant and researcher and completes other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience:
Prior experience as an Exercise Physiologist required.
Prior experience as an Exercise Physiologist in the Cardiac Rehab setting preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science Required. Masters Degree preferred.
Special Skills:
Advance knowledge in exercise prescription preferred.
Ability to interpret electrocardiograms and recognize abnormal rhythms
Strong PC skills required.
Exemplary customer service skills required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Certification:
American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support ( BLS) certification required (offered by GHS). BLS Recertification is required every two years.
ACLS preferred.
ACSM or ASEP certification preferred.
Other:
- Primary assignment may be at multiple locations so candidate must have personal transportation and a valid SC driver’s license in good standing to travel to multiple locations throughout the region
Physical Requirements: Medium Physical Agility Testing (PAT) Rating
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally , and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently , and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by post offer Physical Agility testing with a required “ Medium ” rating to verify ability to meet the requirement.
