By abstracting infrastructure complexities, we enable teams to focus on what matters most—identifying abuse, refining measurement, and adapting to adversarial behavior.We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the Trust Foundations organization. This leader will shape the strategy, scale distributed systems, and drive innovation to continuously enhance LinkedIn’s trust and safety capabilities. If you’re passionate about building large-scale, high-impact systems and leading world-class engineering teams, we’d love to hear from you!Responsibilities:Lead and Develop Talent: Build and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering career growth, technical excellence, and an inclusive culture that values collaboration and innovation.Drive Technical Strategy: Define and execute the long-term technology roadmap for Trust Foundations, ensuring scalability, security, and resilience across LinkedIn’s trust and safety infrastructure.Make High-Impact Decisions: Navigate ambiguity in complex challenges, leveraging data-driven insights and cross-functional input to make strategic, well-balanced decisions.Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, policy, and operations teams to align business goals with trust and safety priorities, delivering impactful solutions for LinkedIn members.Manage Vendor and Stakeholder Relationships: Assess and oversee strategic partnerships with vendors, investigators, operations teams, and other key stakeholders to drive seamless integrations and optimize trust-related workflows.Optimize Distributed Systems at Scale: Guide engineering teams in making architectural trade-offs, applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, and ensuring platform performance and reliability.Ensure High-Quality Software Delivery: Oversee engineering best practices, including rigorous testing, code reviews, and continuous integration, to maintain a resilient and scalable trust infrastructure.Operational Oversight: Provide strategic leadership for day-to-day operations, ensuring system reliability and on-call support for internal stakeholders and Trust Tools users.Set the Standard for Leadership: Act as a role model and coach for engineers and managers, fostering a culture of action, craftsmanship, and solution-oriented thinking.Basic Qualifications:5+ years of experience leading large, global engineering teams in a product development organization.10+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-driven solutions.5+ years of experience in architecting and developing large-scale, high-performance, and reliable systems.Experience with trust, safety, and integrity, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this space.Preferred Qualifications:Proven ability to drive the successful delivery of multiple high-quality projects on time in a fast-paced environment.Expertise in designing scalable, resilient, and efficient distributed systems.Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture—hiring, mentoring, and empowering engineers through meaningful career development opportunities.Experience or deep passion for trust, safety, and integrity, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this space.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.Proven experience managing global teams and navigating diverse work cultures.Strong track record of influencing stakeholders and driving results in complex, matrixed environments.Hands-on experience defining and executing long-term technical strategies and roadmaps.Strong understanding of performance optimization, including common patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems.Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent through mentorship, career growth opportunities, and impactful projects.A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a bias for action—balancing intelligent risk-taking with operational excellence.Suggested Skills:Trust and SafetyPeople Management and LeadershipSoftware Design and ArchitectureSystem Scalability and ReliabilityLinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.The pay range for this role is $203,000-$333,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
