Westchester Jewish Community Services Nursing Assistant/Senior Direct Support Professional in Mount Vernon, New York

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Residence Manager and Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant/Senior Direct Support Professional (SDSP) is responsible for assisting with maintaining the medical and clinical status of the individuals served. We have two full-time (40 hours/week) positions available. The compensation range is $17.72-$19.22/hour.

At the Sleepy Hollow location, the hours are Monday through Friday 6:30am – 2:30pm.

At the Mount Vernon location, the hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Responsibilities:

As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide assistance, services and supports that promote independence and active participation in daily living within the residence.

  • Maintain medical records and medications; Regularly review medication records for completeness and accuracy and report any irregularities; Order medication, medical equipment, and medical supplies from the pharmacy and ensure that all medications, equipment and supplies are stored and secured according to Agency Policy and Regulation; Administer medication to individuals.

  • Attend medical appointments with individuals.

  • Support in the overall operation of the community-based residence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must possess an AMAP Certificate

  • 6-12 months experience working with persons with developmental disabilities as a DSP

  • Valid driver’s license for over two years is a must

  • Participate in, pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD

  • Able to conduct physical activity including but not limited to lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, flexing, and bending

  • Able to participate in, pass and maintain certification of Community Programs of WJCS required training that include but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD
