The Delfield Company is now hiring a Buyer II (Onsite) at its facility in Mount Pleasant, MI.

Position Summary:

Under moderate supervision, this position purchases materials, supplies, and services at favorable terms for the organization. Responsibilities typically include qualifying vendors, evaluating bids, and working with vendors to resolve quality or delivery issues. Often works to resolve issues that are difficult and require critical thinking. Maintains an overview of the projected manufacturing schedule to anticipate plant needs, taking into consideration lead times and other supplier issues.

Job Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience obtaining goods and/or services.
  • 2-4 Years experience.
  • 6 years experience in Lieu of Degree.

Major Accountability:

  • Obtains goods/services required by the organization including Indirect and Direct Operations.
  • Procurement processes include Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration, and Supplier Performance Management. This may include Strategic Sourcing.
  • Monitor the production schedule to ensure that the manufacturing plant has all the needed materials to complete the schedule on time.
  • Travel Required: 5%.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.
  • Analyzes and evaluates supplier bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations; negotiates prices and delivery conditions; and commits to purchases (within established limits of authority) with terms that are in the organization's best interest.
  • Interprets inventory requests, production schedules, purchase requisitions, orders, and other documents to coordinate purchasing activities given current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.
  • Monitors the quality and timeliness of materials and goods supplied; follows up on the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; and communicates the status of orders with internal customers.
  • Consistently operate in a manner that aligns with the Company's Core Values.
