COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE

Brush Service Center is responsible for serving as the primary delivery point for information, services, and products available from the CPW. These services or products include licensing, providing or arranging for services, informing and educating the public and referring appropriate requests to the correct unit, individual or another agency. This unit is responsible for implementing the goals and objectives of CPW’s Long Range Plan and operation plan in order to accomplish the Legislative mandate of protecting, preserving, managing and enhancing the State’s wildlife resources in the geographical areas located in Area 3. This includes Morgan, Washington, Logan, Yuma, Phillips and Sedgwick counties.
Description of Job
This position serves the public by supporting agency activities, being the primary point of contact for customer service in Area 3 and to provide support to Area 3 CPW personnel by serving as the reception center, provides the public with information, services and education on wildlife issues. Also types correspondence, receives and enters data into the computer, to produce and update reports and collects revenue from sales, maintain license agency, process CORE transactions and track annual budgets. Corrects errors or deficiencies and may represent the public on issues where errors have occurred or actions are needed from others.
Customer Service
First contact for public/customers/agencies either in person or by phone. Determines customer needs and decides what actions are needed and how to handle requests. Establishes priority for the request; including deciding direct action such as selling licenses, collecting information, providing information, or education or materials, referral to others or referral to another agency. Provides wildlife management services including Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and other wildlife health sampling and submission, mandatory wildlife checks, and other wildlife management aspects related to customer service. Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or other methods of correspondence. Answer, screen and forward calls, provide information, take messages and schedule appointments.
Office Administration
Provides office support functions that include, computer input/data analysis, keyboarding, location and retrieval of data or published/written materials, radio dispatch, and office maintenance needs. Decides priority and timing based on demands and other needs. Process sensitive/confidential personnel-related documents for performance reviews for permanent employees and for hiring temporary employees for review and approval of supervisor. Administers, sells all licenses, permits, registrations, passes, and all promotional items. Interpret wildlife-related regulations and apprise the public accurately. Route complaints and sensitive phone calls or personal contacts to the appropriate personnel. Manages a license agency, which includes designing procedures for handling inventories, orders and sales of licenses within the office. Also includes maintaining business procedures for office based on available fiscal rules and other guidelines. Items covered include procedures for cash handling inventory, deposits and close outs. Maintains procedure to handle leftover licenses and special/problem licenses issues. Keeps updated and current records and reports for all administrative, sales and other files according to policy and needs.
Accounting/Budget
Use Colorado Reporting Engine (CORE) to process bills for payment and monitor cost center activity. Maintains office procedures for bill handling, input and approval. Accept, review, code and sign receiving reports and enter data into the CORE for payment. Review, code and prepare invoices requiring a purchase order and forward to DNR accounting for payment. Track annual budget and make quarterly reports to AWM (Area Wildlife Manager). Maintain and dispense petty cash for Area 3. Operates and maintains processes and forms to track status of various operations which may include such items as game damage claims, orders for material travel arrangements, meetings and meeting rooms, maintenance contracts, office equipment etc..

Three years of experience in customer service (front desk, customer relations, call center, office environment, retail manager), accounting, wildlife management, office administration or an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

- Appropriate education in Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Biology, Aquatic Biology/Fishery Science/Aquaculture/Fishery Management, Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Outdoor Recreation, Zoology/Animal Sciences, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
