Citigroup IT Project Tech Lead - Scrum Master in Mississauga, Ontario

We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including product aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, Listed Derivative & Commodities Operations. We support an extensive range of Capital Markets products and services including Fixed Income (FX, Rates, Credit, Muni, Cash and Derivatives) where Citi is consistently a dominant top 3 player in the market, Equity (Cash, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Futures, Listed Derivatives, FXPB) where Citi has a significant growth program to continue to build out its capabilities and services; and Syndicates where we support both FI and EQ Margin and collateral processes. We play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first class experience in service performance and strategic partnership. The IT Project Tech Lead is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses team management, coaching, and mentoring skills to help team transition from the traditional waterfall model to an agile approach

  • Coach dev managers in agile practices to ensure adoption of best practices from the top down

  • Communicate and implement agile principles, scrum practices, and overall operating model across the organization.

  • Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures by teams.

  • Undertake daily follow-ups with team members to ensure projects are on track and goals are being met.

  • Maintain objectivity regarding issues and how to troubleshoot them by applying agile principles.

  • Hold stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status.

  • Support teams in determining resource allocations to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Facilitate learning and development among employees through individual and team coaching.

  • Mentor teams on Agile approach to estimation, planning, and story mapping.

  • Facilitating superior performance at the team level.

  • Take care of delivery hurdles.

  • Supervising multiple teams like Scrum of Scrums, Big Room Planning, and Retrospectives.

  • Build Agile maturity.

  • Coach and guide other Scrum Masters.

  • Build self-organizing teams of Agile teams.

  • Enhance predictability of solution delivery.

  • Interacting with stakeholders for generating business value.

  • Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to direct staff and to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.

  • Communicates with end-users to provide timely and accurate information and status updates.

  • Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of how areas of IT project leadership collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.

  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of information in complicated and unique situations.

  • Directly impacts the IT project leadership area through responsibility for delivery of end results.

  • Ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards.

  • Persuades and influences others through communication and diplomacy skills; may negotiate with external parties.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8+ years of combined business or technology experience within an Agile environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)

  • Good knowledge of other Agile frameworks

  • At least one of the following certifications: ICP-ACC, PSPO 2 or A-CSPO, PSM 2 or A-CSM, Safe, Scrum@Scale, or any relevant certification would be added advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and servant leadership skills

  • Team player who understands people's concerns.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
