The Master Data Governance Manager is the custodian of the data within their business unit and is responsible for ensuring the data within their business unit is well-managed and fit for intended use. Drives the operationalization of data governance across their business unit and is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the Business Data Owner. This role will work with other data stewards to create alignment and horizontal integration of data and information across all appropriate business areas.

This position is responsible for obtaining buy-in and participation from leadership teams within the functions for data governance activities and has significant influence in setting the data governance policies, standards, and goals for his or her organization. This is a senior level position that requires the ability to effectively collaborate within own department and across broad parts of the organization and influence others without reliance on formal authority.

Role & Responsibility

Strong Data Steward

  • Understand overall data process flow as well as strong understanding of their specific areas

  • Maintain master data and propose new attribute requirements

  • Responsible for direct input of accurate and timely data

  • Develop policies and standards to ensure data is both acceptable and accurate in the applicable Functional Tower

  • Ensure business data is identified and inventoried with complete, accurate, and quality metadata

  • Support data migration activities (including extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation) for related solution footprint changes.

Champion to provide Data Governance as a Service

  • Acts as the agent for change in driving data culture, ensure appropriate usage, and access across functions

  • Collaborates with data owners, data scientist and data owners to enhance, maintain, and govern data assets

  • Promotes usage of shared data, encourages enrichment of metadata for proper usage

Trusted advisor to leadership

  • Solves complex project issues which may require facilitation of multiple senior resources

  • Quickly earns the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders

  • Executes with limited information and ambiguity

  • Plan and manage complex projects and timelines

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • 5-10 years functional and technical expertise in at least 1 analytics or business intelligence application or product

  • Project management experience, as well as strong fundamentals in analytics, data integration, and visualization

  • Advanced understanding of business line/competitive environment

  • Strong change agent; effective communicator

  • Must have technical data knowledge, and ability to handle Technical Data Steward responsibilities when none is assigned for respective data domains

  • Experience with system administration

  • Travel Required: 10-20%
