Construction / Materials Testing Associate
Location: Minneapolis - Saint Paul
Summary
The position offers a blended role combining construction builds and materials testing. Under direction of Lead R & D Scientist you will construct floor / ceiling assemblies for testing. In addition, you will work with a variety of materials relevant to the construction industry including cements, polymers, adhesives, and chemical admixtures.
Key duties include:
Construct floor / ceiling assemblies for testing.
- Organize and maintain cleanliness in acoustical lab, R&D large scale mock-up lab, and shipping areas.
Organize construction material storage and acoustical testing samples.
Coordinate and order construction materials needed for many different types of floor and ceiling assemblies.
Prepare samples for testing at a range of scales. Activities include mixing or powders and liquids, pouring, cutting, and polishing.
Operate and maintain a variety of construction and laboratory equipment and tools.
Key Requirements Include:
Five or more years experience in any of the following: framing and finish carpentry; using a variety of hand and power tools; rigging and knowledge of rigging calculations; mixing, placing, and finishing concrete and operating concrete equipment, and/or welding experience.
Technical degree or laboratory experience is a plus.
Work safely around chemicals, high temperatures, power tools and equipment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to contribute to team projects; have a collaborative and positive attitude.
Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including direct customer support.
Required software skills are Microsoft Office, and ability to learn lab instrument software.
