As Nassau County -Sr. Public Health Specialist (Communicable Disease,TB)youare responsible forworking with theNassau County Health Departmentto provide specialized professional services related to public healthand designated focus area.This position will support Public Health Infrastructure activities in Nassau County, NY.

Position Specific Responsibilities

TheSr. Public Health Specialistwill conduct interviews to obtain tuberculosis case-related information.

The role of theSr. Public Health Specialist (Communicable Disease, TB)may include:

• Provide education, consultation, and technicalassistanceon interview techniques, records, and quality control and serve as a subject matter expert, as needed.

• Establish rapport and communication with healthcare providers, hospitals, and FQHCs to promoteappropriate TBtreatment.

• Oversee data entry and updates to patient records.

• Oversee testing support for TB patients including immigrants, pregnant people, and other high-risk individuals. This may include case management.

• Work closely with the NCDOH Division of Community Outreach and Education to development of programs, developing and directing programs, supervising employees, developing, and managing budgets, marketing programs to the public and community leaders, and collaborating with Nassau County community organizations, particularly focusing on TB education.

• Other duties, as assigned.

This position is located on site at the Nassau County Health Department.

Qualifications  

This position is intended to perform specialized/supervisory duties, such as serving as a subject matter expert,leading small teams, or providing other management services.

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree isrequired. Experience in clinical medicine and/or public health a plus.

• At least three years of supervisory/management experience within a health, public health, education, humanservices, or community-based organization, or institutional setting.

• Strong relationships and experience working in a health system in NYS.This includes but is not limited tohospitals, health care providers, health regulatory organizations, community resources, social services orschools in NYS.

• Experience planning,directingand overseeing the work of others.

• A flexible, adaptive, and composed attitude with the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverseindividuals.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Critical thinking and sound judgmentrequired.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

• Experience leading tracking and reporting processes.

• Proficiencywith computers including data entry into electronic tracking systems and running summary reports.

• Phenomenal work ethic with a positive attitude.

• Employment is contingent on completion of a background check by NY State.

• Must be a NYS resident with familiarity of NYS geography; cities/towns/locations.

• Preference given to those who live within commuting distancetothe official work location.

• Must own telephone, computer, wireless internet (WiFi) and electronic equipment. Must have access to aworking PC with Windows 10, Antivirus Protection: Windows Defender and Windows Firewall; or Mac withApple OS X 10.13, Antivirus Protection: Sophos; and personal mobile device to use for this job.

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
