LEARNING AS WE GROW CHILD CARE AND Lead and Assistant Daycare Teachers in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Lead Teacher Responsibilities: Curriculum & Planning: Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with developmental milestones. Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and inviting classroom, adhering to all state licensing and school policies. Child Guidance: Provide nurturing and positive guidance to help children build self-help and social-emotional skills. Parent Communication: Maintain regular, professional communication with parents about their child\'s progress and classroom activities. Team Leadership: Supervise and guide assistant teachers, ensuring clarity in daily schedules, lesson plans, and classroom approaches. Safety & Well-being: Proactively ensure the safety and physical well-being of all children. Professional Development: Attend staff meetings and ongoing training to stay current with best practices in early childhood education. Reporting: Collaborate with the Center Director on classroom needs, student progress, and any concerns. Reliability: Demonstrate punctuality and preparedness for each scheduled shift. Assistant Teacher Responsibilities: Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher with activities, lessons, and routines, ensuring consistency and hygiene. Student Supervision: Monitor children\'s safety and support their physical well-being in the classroom and on the playground. Positive Environment: Contribute to a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Parent Interaction: Communicate with parents warmly and professionally under the Lead Teacher\'s and Director\'s guidance. Collaboration: Work effectively with the Lead Teacher and staff to foster a team-oriented environment. Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality, uphold a professional appearance, and ensure consistent punctuality. Flexibility: Cover the classroom during breaks and take on additional tasks as assigned. Compliance: Follow state licensing regulations and center policies. Qualifications & Requirements (for Both Roles): Age: Minimum 18 years old. Education: High school diploma required for Lead Teachers (preferred for Assistant Teachers). Experience: Lead Teacher: Previous experience in early childhood or preschool settings preferred. Assistant Teacher: Minimal experience needed; a willingness to learn is essential. Skills: Strong oral and written communication. Knowledge of child development principles. Ability to work well with colleagues, children, and parents. Eagerness for ongoing training and professional growth. Certifications: Infant/Child CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain). Background Check: Must pass a full background check. Observe and monitor children\'s play activities. Communicate with children\'s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Support children\'s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Care for children in institutional setting, such as group homes, nursery schools, private businesses, or schools for the handicapped. Sanitize toys and play equipment. Dress children and change diapers. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered. Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents\' or guardians\' attention. Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits. Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas. Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls. Perform housekeeping duties, such as laundry, cleaning, dish washing, and changing of linens. Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs. Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children. Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books. Regulate children\'s rest periods. Organize and participate in recreational activities and outings, such as games and field trips. Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas. Help children with homework and school work. Operate in-house day-care centers within businesses. Provide care for mentally disturbed, delinquent, or handicapped children.
