Omnicell Data Platform Engineering, Technical Director in Milpitas, California

Omnicell is a healthcare technology company that provides automation systems for medication management in healthcare settings and pharmacies. As an Omnicell Data Platform Engineering Technical Director, you will lead the data platform architecture collaborating with other engineering leaders and data engineers as well as product and other business functions. The ideal candidate should possess a strong and extensive background in building data platforms from the scratch based on the organization’s data strategy and possess the ability to thoroughly analyze existing systems and adapt existing architectures to ensure the achievement of customer objectives. The ideal candidate would have a proven and extensive track record of delivering data-driven products, armed with solid drive, ownership, and hands-on technical leadership & expertise to ensure successful delivery of customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for the development and maintenance of data model-based solutions as specified by engineering standards.

  • Provide leadership and continual improvements to data model architectures and technical data delivery practices.

  • Develop data model structures, extract transform & load (ETL) services, reporting services, and enterprise data management strategies.

  • Provide hands-on technical knowledge and capabilities to create and maintain analytical and visual reporting solutions.

  • Plan and perform unit testing of data solutions to ensure developed product meets business requirements.

  • Coordinate with data testing team to ensure smooth and well-documented releases.

  • Proactively resolve bugs and data issues as identified by product management, project management, or governance functions.

  • Assess functional requirements in a timely and efficient manner to create and maintain data solutions which fit within data engineering architecture patterns and standards.

  • Actively engage in and learn the business processes of the supported lines of business.

  • Stay apprised of technological innovation and constantly improve through training while mentoring line of business or technology team’s data skills.

  • Work very closely with the architects, data platform leads and product team to solve technical and execution challenges.

  • Actively contribute to the data governance, master data management, compliance and data platform’s security posture.

  • Be a hands-on leader who is willing to dive deep as and when needed.

  • Identify opportunities for technology advancements and drive innovation in development.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep technical leadership and development experience of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications, architecting big data projects.

  • Hands-on programming experience in Scala, Python, and other object-oriented programming languages.

  • Expert in using Big data technologies like, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Real Time streaming, Structured Streaming, Delta lake, Data mesh architecture.

  • Hands-on working experience in cloud infrastructure like AWS. Able to scale cade and deploy applications in the public cloud using technologies like AWS, Lamdba, Docker, Kubernetes.

  • Working knowledge of tools like Databricks notebook, Team Foundation Server, TeamCity, Octopus deploys and DataDog.

  • Expert in Agile development practices and Software Quality Assurance process. Comfortable in shipping new features in complex environment.

  • Proven experience in utilizing AI/ML models to deliver business outcomes based on data

  • Excitement to learn how to build and ship enterprise grade software at scale.

  • Data development certification such as Snow Pro Certification or Databricks certification.

  • Have a can-do attitude and make a positive impact our culture.

  • Expert in knowing a balance driving the right architecture but realizing the realities of having customers and the need to ship software

  • Able to establish great relationships with managers and team, communicate effectively on time, able to ensure the team works efficiently.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering

  • 15+ year’s experience in software development, demonstrating increased levels of responsibility and technical expertise.

  • 12+ years of experience in data platform and big data technologies (ex: Databricks, Spark, Snowflake) and reporting technologies (ex: Power BI, Qliq, Tableau).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare or pharmaceutical experience working with interfaces such as HL7, FHIR. EDI and knowing what PHI means.

  • Understanding of building web-based applications and API’s. Ideally using C# and the .NET Framework.

  • Knowledge/experience in deploying service oriented and micro-services architectures.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Base Compensation: $161,068 to $230,098

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education,

experience, and skillset. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical,
