Our railroad maintenance division, Transdev Rail, Inc, provides an integrated suite of railroad maintenance, project oversight, and construction services.

Overview of Position:

Responsible for managing the track operations on the SFRC corridor that involves track inspection and repairs, replacing rails, ties, switches and ballast in compliance with the agreement terms and conditions, applicable regulations, SFRTA standards, FRA, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop training schedule and curriculum

·Supervise and manage the activities of track gangs, track inspectors, and hi-rail operations

·Provide clear direction and goals while providing coaching and guidance to both union and non-union employees by regularly monitoring employee performance

·Apply collective bargaining agreement, company policies, safety standards and operating rules when coaching employees, conducting investigations, and assessing discipline

·Perform record keeping functions including weekly payroll, regulatory reporting, and reporting to our client

·Respond immediately to extraordinary conditions and to initiate inspections and/or repairs to track or facilities as required to maintain Authority facilities and operations

·Meet deadlines and interact with senior management team

·Other duties as required

Education Required-High School Diploma

Experience Required:

  • 15 years of progressively responsible experience in railroad track maintenance and/or construction in an operating railroad environment, including at least 10 years’ experience in supervising or directing the work of others engaged in railroad track maintenance

·Five (5) years’ experience in managing construction and/or maintenance contracts

·CDL w/Hazmat Endorsement

·A minimum of ten years’ of supervisory skills in a similar position supervising and managing employees engaged in railroad track maintenance in an operating railroad environment

Experience Preferred:

·Desirable to have an associate degree from a junior or community college in business, construction or a related field

Skills and Knowledge Required:

·Knowledge of the safe and proper procedures for operating railroad maintenance hand and power tools and railroad maintenance equipment

·Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate in written and verbal English language with prior recordkeeping experience

·Must possess strong leadership interpersonal skills

·Detailed knowledge of SFRTA Rules and the ability to be Qualified on Authority’s examinations and the GCOR related to these regulations

·Previously Qualified with a railroad to provide workplace protection under SFRTA and to inspect track and supervise restoration of track to SFRTA standards

·Knowledge of the physical layout and operation of a commuter rail system similar to Authority’s

·Knowledge of the time for completion and the cost of repair for track and right-of-way facilities, and the ability to make value judgments regarding economic repair and/or replacement of these facilities

·Knowledge of the adjustment of thermal stress in continuously welded rail per 49 CFR Part 213.119.

·Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications for railroad track and civil construction, and to inspect track and supervise the work of others for compliance with these documents

·Ability to complete work under time pressures and to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations

·Ability to perform scheduled and unscheduled repair or construction work at any time on any day of the week

·Must have a valid Florida drivers’ license

Pre-Employment Requirements:

·Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and physical exam

Physical Requirements:

·Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift objects weighing a minimum of 50lb and must have the ability to distinguish colors and to hear warning signals, radio and telephone devices

On-call 24/7, 365 days a year, with allowances for vacations, sick leave, and related time off with duties assigned to the Supervisor of Track when off duty.
