Horizon Farm Credit Finance Intern in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Horizon Farm Credit is seeking a full-time Finance Intern for the summer of 2025 in either our Mechanicsburg, PA or Westminster, MD branch location. To view locations, visit Locations | Horizon Farm Credit (horizonfc.com).

Selected candidate will participate in a 10-12 week internship. Summer Intern hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcript through the application link by October 31.

Position Overview - As a Finance Intern at Horizon Farm Credit, you will gain an understanding of several key responsibilities of the Finance department including but not limited to Financial Reporting, Loan Accounting, and General Accounting. This is a great opportunity to get in-depth experience and learn the primary responsibilities of a Finance staff at Horizon and how Finance helps support the Farm Credit mission. You will also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, participate in social events with other interns, and give back to the community.

Areas of Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with general ledger month-end close.
  • Support daily loan accounting functions.
  • Assist in general ledger reconciliations.
  • Support account payable function.
  • Exposure to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting.
  • Assist the Finance Department in document retention efforts.
  • Exposure to Financial Reporting and FP&A processes and procedures
  • Gain insight into cash management responsibilities.
  • Networking opportunities with teammates, industry partners, and fellow interns
  • Exposure to a variety of roles and responsibilities, providing a holistic view of how Farm Credit supports its customers and community members

Required Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a similar degree.
  • 3.0 GPA or Higher
  • Experience with Coursework in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, and show strong self-motivation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytic orientation.
