Note: This is a part-time temporary position that is expected to start in May and end in September, working weekends and holidays. General work schedule is 4 to 5 hours Friday - Monday not to exceed 20 hours per week.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, this position provides support to ensure Grant PUD’s Park facilities and recreation programs and projects are implemented and operated to the standards set by the Parks and Recreation Operation and Maintenance Program, and managed and monitored in compliance with Grant PUD’s Recreation Resources Management Plan and other regulatory and policy guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performs a variety of physical duties for Grant PUD’s Parks and Recreation programs, including interpretation and education activities, recreation monitoring, or GIS/signage support.

Assists in recreation and land management programs, which may include community and school outreach events.

Engages with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.

Educates and informs the public on Grant PUD’s policies as they relate to recreation, visitor management and resource protection.

Educates and informs the public on recreational opportunities in the area.

Demonstrates commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and the Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a manner aligned with these expectations.

Understands and adheres to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies and procedures.

Actively participates in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:

  • Following all safety policies and procedures;

  • Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions;

  • Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and

  • Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.

Accepts responsibility for safety of all team members and models safe behaviors by:

  • Clearly defining and completing performance-focused safety activities required of you and your team;

  • Supporting work stoppages by employees when they identify unsafe/hazardous working conditions;

  • Acknowledging compliant safety behaviors and good safety performance from members of your team(s).

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.

Preference will be given to those who have experience working with the public.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of Utility policies and procedures.

Skills in - Effectively communicate with and relate to people with different backgrounds; problem solving, thinking clearly and acting professionally under stress; preparing written comments on report forms; following written and verbal directions as they relate to work assignments; operating a vehicle in a safe manner by observing legal and defensive driving practices; cooperating and working effectively with others in a positive team atmosphere; being flexible and adaptable to complete daily tasks; exercising independent judgment and being a team player.

Special Requirements

A valid State driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements

Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
