We care for your career while caring for the community.SUMMARYThe Registered Nurse Supervisor is a nursing leader who serves as a resource in coordinating and overseeing patient care delivery. The Nurse Supervisor provides leadership, direction, facilitates patient flow, assures appropriate staffing, and consults with nursing, medical and administration as necessary. Maintains standards of professional nursing practice and supports the nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as initiatives. All practices and patient care decisions will be consistent with established hospital policy and procedure, DNV, and all other state and federal laws. We are an acute care facility with 25 beds, providing a wide range of medical, surgical, and pediatric care.STATUS: Part TimeLOCATION: Massena HospitalDEPARTMENT: Nursing AdministrationSCHEDULE: 12-hour shiftsATTRIBUTESRequired: Graduate of an accredited School of NursingRequired: Current NYS RN licensureRequired: Bachelor's Degree; or actively enrolled in a BSN program within 6 months of hireRequired: National Certification within 2 years of hireRequired: BLS certificationACLS within 3 months of hirePALS within 3 months of hireRequired: Three years of experience in an acute care facility or related specialty area Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word required; Meditech and EPIC strongly preferred)Preferred: Experience as a Nursing Supervisor, Director/Nurse Manager or Charge NurseRESPONSIBILITIESProvides on site management of the hospital during the off shift, normally when the hospital management is not on site.Manages the delivery of patient care and manages any issues that ariseManages occurrences during the shift ensuring appropriate documentationFacilitates professional collaboration with all staff and providersProvides Respiratory Therapy support when neededAssists staff in clinical problem solvingRounds on patients and families with concerns or complaintsRounds on admitted patients in the Emergency DepartmentMentors and coaches staff in clinical and behavioral eventsFacilitates patient flowCollaborates with staff to provide considerate care that respects patient's personal values, beliefs, taking spiritual and cultural needs into accountSupports patients and families participation in making informed decisionsReinforces Patients' Rights, collaborates with staff to assess patient's physical, psychological, and social status needsReinforces policies and proceduresPrioritizes multiple emergent situationsResponds to codesFacilitates quality care through knowledge of and reinforcement with the staff, pertinent to regulatory issuesParticipates in the quality assessment/performance improvement programsContributes to staff performance evaluationsSeeks assistance appropriately from Directors of Nursing and/or Administrator on callInterfaces with all departments and communicates with the appropriate leader in a timely collegial mannerMaintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, physiciansCollaborates with staff to identify safety risks and takes appropriate actionActs as patient and staff advocate in Infection ControlAllocates and reallocates human resources appropriatelyMaintains staffing patternsMaintains all mandatory educational requirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $40.87 - $52.04 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
