Overview
Location: Martinsburg, WV
Compensation: $35.42/hour
Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within industrial settings like factories, plants, and power plants, including tasks like reading blueprints, interpreting electrical codes, performing preventative maintenance, and diagnosing issues with complex electrical machinery. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Installing new electrical systems, including conduit, wiring, and electrical components according to blueprints and specifications. Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance checks, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment like motors, transformers, control panels, and switchgear. Diagnosing electrical faults and malfunctions using testing equipment to identify the root cause of problems. Interpreting electrical drawings and diagrams to understand the layout and functionality of industrial electrical systems. Adhering to local and national electrical safety codes and regulations. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Following safety protocols when working with high-voltage equipment and hazardous environments. Skills and qualifications for an industrial electrical technician: Strong understanding of electrical theory, principles of AC/DC circuits, motor controls, and PLC systems. Ability to diagnose electrical issues using various testing tools and techniques. Understanding of mechanical systems and how they interact with electrical components. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams. Skillful use of electrical tools like wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, and voltage testers. Capability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
Abilities Skills & Knowledge
Key knowledge areas include electrical theory, motor controls, power distribution systems, and relevant safety regulations. Must be able to demonstrate reliability; no shift goes without coverage. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, as well as being able to stand or be moving for most of the shift. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must interact well with a wide range of different personality types. Six months of cement experience is desired but not required. Candidates will be required to complete an online assessment. They must also pass pre-employment requirements.
