Senior Laboratory Manager, Sustainability and Climate Tech

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Laboratory Manager to lead our team in delivering new-to-the- world products and technologies in sustainability and climate tech. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lab management, technical expertise, experience in new product and technology development, and a passion for sustainability and environmental impact.

As a Senior Laboratory Manager, Sustainability and Climate Tech you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Identify, prioritize, initiate, and plan technical programs for one or more work groups, focusing on sustainability and climate tech innovations.

• Lead and drive the completion of complex cross-functional programs with major importance to the organization, including the creation of new products and technologies and customer applications.

• Establish and manage budgets for assigned work groups, approving programs and budget deviations to meet business objectives.

• Utilize resources across work areas, departments, and businesses to create solutions to complex, multi-faceted problems.

• Energize work groups by creating a climate that encourages innovation, risk-taking, teamwork, and high productivity.

• Maintain a strong operational knowledge of the organization's technologies, products, customers, and customers' needs.

• Develop appropriate intellectual property protection plans for potential proprietary positions.

  Your Skills and Expertise

  To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or higher in a physical, chemical, or engineering science (completed and verified prior to start)

• Ten (10) years of related technical industry or academic experience beyond the bachelor’s degree

• Five (5) years of technical management experience in a private, public, government or military environment including new product and/or technology development

  Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science or any of the major engineering degrees from an accredited university

• Strong people skills with the ability to energize, influence, and empower team members, and build trust at all levels.

• Strong business acumen to recognize growth opportunities, understand customer needs, and participate in business teams.

• Comfortable with risk-taking, capable of making courageous, smart, and speedy decisions, and recognized for technical competence and solid knowledge of relevant technologies, products, customers, and programs.

• Proven success in leading projects, delivering results, and inspiring team members, with excellent

• communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).

  Work location:

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week)

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $207,348 - $253,425, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
