Fairview Health Services 7/70 Pharmacy Technician II in Maplewood, Minnesota

Overview

Are you a new or current pharmacy technician looking for a new opportunity? We at MHealth Fairview are looking for you to join our team! This benefits eligible position is 1.0FTE (80 hours/2 weeks) on the Evening shift with every other weekend rotation!

Provide support to the pharmacy, under the direction of a pharmacist, in the central pharmacy and decentralized areas while assisting the pharmacist with compounding and distribution of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions and documentation as ordered by qualified prescribers. Provide assistance in the narcotic control area as advised.

Responsibilities Job Description

Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure that patient receives the needed medication accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.

Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from electronic medical record, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols, prepare drug therapy and/or dispense medication in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.

Maintain the IV hoods or isolators, clean room, ante room according to manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements as applicable.

Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested.

Participate in regulatory, quality assurance and process improvement activities and other projects as assigned.

Handle cash register transactions accurately and verify outpatient prescription insurance coverage

Qualifications

Preferred Education

Graduate of a pharmacy technician program

Minimum License/Certification/Registration

Current or pending registration with the MN board of pharmacy.

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within 12 months of employment

Preferred Experience

Previous pharmacy or medical experience

Additional Requirements:

Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
