Siemens Smart Infrastructure Energy and Automation are recruiting a Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer (depending upon experience) to join our existing friendly and diverse engineering community.

This role will be based in Manchester working as part of our Ireland Vertical Delivery Team with infrequent travel. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to attend meetings in Manchester & Dublin. The role will also entail infrequent visits to customers and sub - contractors in Ireland and conducting factory acceptance testing at Siemens factories (in Frankfurt & Turkey).

The role:

•Responsible for the technical delivery of a range of Medium Voltage distribution products and systems. Primarily involving the design, build, and testing of MV Switchgear (11-33kV) & associated Protection system products/solutions.

•Review client technical specifications & diagrams.

•Design Single Line/Key Line/Schematic Protection Diagrams.

•Protection Philosophy & Relay Selection

•Devise and maintain Project specification bill of materials within internal ordering tool.

•Work closely with Project Managers on multiple projects concurrently to program schedules.

•Develop and foster relationships with our key stakeholders (factory, customers, suppliers etc) as a technical point of contact throughout project/product lifecycle

What will you bring to the role?

•Previous experience as a Design Engineer in Distribution, Transmission industry or similar field [high voltage, protection, automation…etc]

•An ability to interpret and develop P&C schematics and layouts to project specific customer requirements.

•Understanding of electrical protection systems with a variety of manufacturer's switching devices, protection relays, and products knowledge

•You will bring your passion, organisation skills, and a desire to learn and grow - we’ll provide the training to help unleash your potential and open the door to a new career. You will need an Electrical Engineering qualification (ie. degree / HNC / apprenticeship) and stakeholder liaising experience with sufficient communication (verbal & written) skill set.
