The North America Construction Director position is responsible for oversight of all current and future data center construction projects in Iron Mountain’s North American data center construction portfolio in Virginia. This includes all major projects throughout the project lifecycle, from working with our site selection, design, commercial, and construction teams through project delivery. This position will work closely with members of the IMDC Leadership Team, Network, Operations, Finance, Site Selection, and D&C team.
This position will be responsible for providing strategic construction leadership to lead construction teams executing IM's data center construction projects across the state of Virginia from planning through successful testing and turnover to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Identify, organize and disseminate management (Organizational and Business) requirements
Lead the development of the project Scopes of Work
Develop project timelines/schedules by working with Engineering, Facilities, Executive Management, and customers
Gather inter-departmental team input and buy-in to develop continuity of procedures across the IMDC Operations organization
Identify gaps in scheduling and resources and develop plans to meet goals and timelines
Interface with customers to gather requirements, and document these requirements for dissemination to the team.
Work closely with the IMDC Design and Construction leadership teams to ensure organizational project and program goals are identified and met
Identify and resolve problems involving overall effectiveness and efficiency of programs, initiatives, and units under the organization's auspice
Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
8+ data center and/or construction industry experience with a distinct focus on construction management and customer facing processes and procedures
Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
8+ years of Project Management experience
Have extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of IT/telecommunications and data center products & services.
Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical components that come together to construct a data center and the commissioning process (L1 - L5) needed to deliver capacity on time
A complete understanding of Project/Program Management, developing processes, procedures and reporting, analysis of such to enhance deliverables to customers
Excellent presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Employs a consultative approach across all levels of the decision-making spectrum, with a keen focus on developing effective internal and external relationship(s)

Commissioning process for a data center
Construction and Personal safety awareness around an active construction site
Necessary documentation, tracking, and logging of close out documents and material needed at the conclusion of a mission critical project
Maintenance criteria and standards expected of a project's turnover upon conclusion for a mission critical project
