U W-MADISON DIV. CONTINUING STUDIES Hazardous Building Materials Specialist in MADISON, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Madison\'s Environment, Health & Safety Office is hiring for a Hazardous Building Material (HBM) Specialist to expand our ability to ensure the safety of our students and employees from hazardous building materials and assist in moving campus projects forward. The HBM Specialist will be working directly with the Campus Architect & Engineering (A&E) team to identify potential remediation needs for campus projects. This will include in-person and virtual meetings with architects and engineers. The HBM Specialist will be on-site at campus buildings, taking samples, performing XRF material identification, and will be responsible for the chain of custody for sample analyses done by third-party vendors. Careful documentation, post-abatement site inspections, communication of results, and updating of campus databases is an essential part of this position. The team provides guidance, technical consultations, and expertise to the campus community in the areas of biological, chemical, environmental, engineering, radiation, fire safety, occupational health, and workplace safety.
