Program Summary

KBR provides full-spectrum base operations support to Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, a remote location in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Our robust supply chain ensures on-time delivery of mission-critical supplies, and our team conducts essential port and airfield operations in this geographically complex environment. The KBR team is over 1,000 people strong, providing not only life support services such as water treatment, electricity, and telecom/antenna maintenance, but also quality of life services like Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and an award-winning dining facility.

Job Summary

Responsible for the administration of one or more of the following data systems: Computer systems hardware, software, information systems & peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems, administers operating systems, and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as scheduling and backups. Under direct supervision, assists in monitoring, responding, configuring, installing, and repairing hardware and software problems according to established procedures. Skills are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains the TCF in accordance with DISA Circular 310-70-1.

  • Responsible for providing voice and/or data signals to subscriber tenant commands, Satellite Communications, the cryptographic site, and the transmitter site.

  • TCF operations include, but are not limited to, managing communication equipment, monitoring data connectivity, activating new circuits and/or trunks and monitoring circuit and/or trunk continuity, performing quality control checks, responding to emergent tasking, monitoring HF transmitters, managing frequency databases, and EKMS/KMI local element accounts.

  • Stands watch in the Technical Control Facility.

  • Coordinates complete processing of telecommunications signals including satellite transmission and reception paths.

  • Operates or controls the operation of long-haul and local telecommunication equipment systems including cryptographic equipment, transmitters, and receivers.

  • Maintains signal quality and determines the point of signal deterioration through the use of various test equipment such as transmission distortion test sets, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.

  • Analyzes quality control results to identify preventive or corrective action required.

  • Restores communications by appropriate means.

  • Prepares and maintains circuit quality, outage logs, and reports.

  • Operates, tunes, tests, aligns, inspects, patches, and configures all telecommunication equipment as necessary to meet operational requirements.

  • Assists the Watch Leader as necessary.

  • Ensures space cleanliness IAW established SOPs.

  • Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • U.S. Government granted Top-Secret clearance based on an SSBI and maintain it for the duration of your employment in this role on this contract.

  • Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Ability to work quickly and in a potentially high-stress environment.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills which enable to effectively liaise with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors, and clients, and report directly to the Senior Management.

  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate and successful completion of a two (2) year resident course at a technical institute specializing in electronics or communications technology or the equivalent military training in communications electronics or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four (4) years of general experience in communications.

  • Within the last four (4) years, two (2) years of specialized experience directly related to Technical Control Facility operations.

  • Within the last four (4) years, two (2) years of specialized experience in the theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory and characteristics, functions, diagnosing, isolating, and correcting malfunctions, and performing organizational-level maintenance on communications and electronic equipment including, but not limited to: AN/GSC 52B; M/20 JUNIPER; RT2200; AN/WSC-3; DAMA; KIV-7M, KWR-4, and associated CRYPTO equipment; Fiber Optic Equipment, or two (2) years specialized experience in operation and maintenance of the above equipment at a military or commercial communications center.
