Job Title: Product Development Assistant FLSA: Non- Exempt

Position Type: Full time Department: Product Development

Salary Range: Reports to: Senior Technical Designer

Core Focus

A versatile team player who works closely with the Product Development Team and is responsible to provide product development and management support and organization within the merchandising department.

 

 Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and measure approval samples for fit sessions with the product development team 

  • Update WIP reports for multiple collection deliveries simultaneously to maintain accurate information that is used by cross-functional partners

  • Assist in the sourcing and approval of fabric samples, lab dips, strike-off's and other development materials.

  • Monitor, track, and check in samples from Proto stage through PPS stage

  • Make sure tech-packs are up to date and sent out to vendors throughout the development process

  • Submit comments to vendors

  • Communicate via email with overseas vendors to make progress on product development

  • Establish and monitor time and action calendars to hit target delivery dates

  • Request initial costing and negotiate costs to meet margin goals

  • Data entry and style set up in both PLM and ERP system. Manage all changes and updates within the system.

  • Maintain and update all style details, sales samples, and ERP systems as necessary

  • Assist with development and fit samples, including measurements, construction details, trims, labeling, technical sketches

  •  Maintain and update sample tracking/WIP (style, fabric, and lab dip approval status).

  • Assist the Product Development in departmental needs and clerical duties

  • Receive, prepare, and ship, in-coming and out bound approval samples and departmental shipping needs

  • Organize, catalog, and file all lab dip submissions, shade bands, fabric submissions, and approval samples

  • Assist in pulling samples and collateral for any meetings and reviews

  • Assist with creating product cost sheets within ERP system

  • Assist with product sourcing: product shipments and  receiving documentation.

  • Assist with color and style trend research.

  • Participate in the technical development of all product lines.

  • Assist Product Coordinator with month-end reporting.

    Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design /Technical Design or related field.

    Qualifications

  • Entry level position with 1-2 years of relevant experience

  • Must be able to adapt to new software systems as is related to the job function

  • Base knowledge of patternmaking and spec development (Preferred)

  • Highly proficient in Excel with the ability to perform analytical tasks.

  • Skilled in data entry

  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint with the ability to convey information and product inspiration in a visually compelling and on-brand format.

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop (Preferred)

  • Highly detail oriented and organized

  • Ability to multi-task and deliver on deadlines in a fast paced environment.  Strong sense of urgency and intuitive sense of priorities and accuracy, with a creative approach to problem solving

  • Comfortable with working in all facility settings, and must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

  • Self-starter with follow through to project competition while meeting deadlines
