Position Summary

Safely and efficiently supports and leads team members on maintenance processes utilizing strong leadership, communication skills, training aids and on the job training techniques.

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment using troubleshooting methods, PM maintenance methods and 5S standards for organization and cleanliness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and utilizes job distribution to balance available manpower based on team members qualifications and skill set.
  • Performs root cause analysis and develops corrective actions regarding safety concerns, quality issues, assembly down time, etc.
  • Plans and performs all operations necessary to modify, repair, and maintain complicated machinery while training and supporting other less experienced technicians to do the same.
  • Will diagnose and correct machine trouble to include dismantling and reassembly requiring advanced troubleshooting mechanical skills.
  • Support in the maintenance of conveyors, paint systems and chemical processes.
  • Works with sketches, drawings, schematics or written instructions to perform work and/or make recommendations to resolve problems.
  • Be able to perform Supervisory duties in the absence of a Supervisor.
  • Actively supports the development of technicians within the maintenance team.
  • Interpret and apply a variety of technical instructions.
  • Conducts equipment installations (air, gas, rigging) with minimum direction and guidance.
  • Completes some basic electrical system repairs including calculation of Watts, Volts, Amps, OHMS and electrical loads.
  • Successfully monitors and navigates PLCs and automated systems; troubleshooting IO cards, inputs, output requirements and interprets ladder logic.
  • Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on all plant support equipment. Evaluates the effectiveness of PMs and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement. Also performs preventative maintenance of lasers and robots where applicable.
  • Posses the ability to coach less experienced technicians in troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Communicate technical issues to others and evaluate responses in a group setting.
  • Must certify and maintain certifications to use powered industrial vehicles and overhead cranes.
  • Leads general housekeeping audits of work areas for 5S compliance.
  • Understands, complies and leads others in support of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Performs special projects as requested and related tasks as needed.
  • Updates PM instructions as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

``` - Deep knowledge of schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.

``` - Basic knowledge of electrical components to include start/stop stations, relays/motor starters and can successful calculate Watts, Volts, Amps, OHMS and electrical loads.

``` - Advanced troubleshooting skills and mechanical maintenance experience required.

``` - Must certify and maintain valid certification on all powered industrial vehicles and overhead crane operations for the facility. Certifications must be achieved within 30 days of position start.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 2 Year Degree/Diploma in Industrial Technology Systems or similar preferred.
  • General knowledge of NFPA and NEC regulations.
  • Experience in coaching/developing less experienced team members.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team member must have the ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions, stand for the duration of the shift (up to 12 hours), use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; ascend stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. In addition, the team member must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
