Under

direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatient

practice area, performs those repetitive and manipulative activities which

primarily consist of drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintaining the

inventory in the Pyxis medstations (filling the medstation daily, checking for

outdates), IV sterile compounding, record keeping (refrigerator

temperature logs and hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping and security

functions. Additionally, you will assist in all technical aspects of

prescription filling and dispensing activities, and do other duties as assigned

by the pharmacist.

Schedule: varied hours between 5:00am and 8:00pm, depending on

department needs

Hourly

Salary Rate: $35.20 (Standard Per Diem Rate)

Bargaining

Unit: EX - AFSCME

Qualifications

  • CA Pharmacy Technician license - Required.

  • 2 years of pharmacy experience - preferred.

  • PTCB certification - preferred

  • Ability to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical generic and trade names and their dosage forms, and the ability to cross-reference the most common drugs from memory.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.

  • Good customer service skills

  • Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.

  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Skill in computer order entry of medication orders as well as other related computer entry tasks and computer report generation.

  • Telephone and verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectively with pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other allied health professionals.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk and sit based on job duties.
