Overview of the Role

The successful candidate would be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with wealth managers, private banks, asset managers and family offices across the UK, reporting to the Head of UK Wealth Distribution.

The role would provide an opportunity to offer a differentiated product set to the UK wealth market centred around private assets. Private assets are forecast to play an increasingly important role in wealth clients portfolios. Nuveen has a tier 1 alternatives platform that spans Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, as well as differentiated asset classes such as Farmland and Timberland.

Nuveen has significant scale across its alternatives platform and is one of the largest Private Credit and Real Estate managers globally . The firm has a long history of managing assets on behalf of private wealth clients and manages over $300bn of wealth assets in the US. Nuveen has combined these experiences to develop a range of semi-liquid products that offer wealth clients an access point to private assets . The incoming candidate will be heavily involved in further building and refining this offering to suit the UK wealth audience.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Working in close partnership with the Head of UK Wealth Distribution on sales strategy with local intermediaries.

  • Providing dedicated client coverage, focused on driving growth primarily across private assets, in line with business priorities.

  • Proactively engage with product development team on client demand and requirements as it relates to private assets.

  • Contributing to the team’s collaborative approach to relationship building with strategic clients, including identifying, developing and nurturing key contacts.

  • Managing and developing existing client relationships, highlighting key focus funds/strategies, contributing to building buy list positions, and identifying new opportunities to partner with key firms.

  • Recording and maintaining all significant client contact, and managing pipeline updates, on Salesforce, and ensuring that notes are captured accurately.

  • Providing guidance and direction to junior members of the team.

  • Actively contributing to team sales meetings, strategy planning and development.

  • Traveling within the UK to support the team’s distribution effort with key accounts, contributing to client events, roadshows, and education.

Qualifications / Skills / Qualities :

  • Be highly self motivated and excited about the prospect of building a business from the ground up.

  • Be a great listener and team player.

  • Have c.10 years of relevant industry experience, working closely with advisers and wealth managers in the UK. This should include a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a business development role.

  • Have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and managing a network of client relationships within the UK distribution market.

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of competitors, products, key market trends, UK infrastructure (platforms and data vendors), and industry developments.

  • Have the ability to speak fluently about private assets

  • Have the technical ability to sufficiently understand and solve client problems independently.

  • Understand the different types of clients in the UK wealth market and their different business models. The candidate must be able to see opportunities for true strategic partnerships.

  • Be action orientated, accountable, committed, driven and self-motivated, with excellent communication and team working skills.

  • Have the ability to prioritise, focus, eliminate roadblocks and execute a sales strategy in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and a client centric focus.

  • Have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree. A relevant professional qualification (e.g. IMC, CFA) or progress towards one, is preferred.
