Reliability Engineer - Guinness Beer Packaging Site

Runcorn, England

Full Time - Permanent

Shift Pattern- 35 hours contract - Monday to Friday 7am - 3pm

Our Supply Chain and Manufacturing team are problem-solvers, sourcing, producing and delivering our much-loved brands to delight customers around the globe. Over half of Diageo’s 27,000+ people work in Supply Chain and Manufacturing. It’s an intricate and sophisticated operation that’s the product of logistical, manufacturing, and technical collaborations.

We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in North West England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets. Significant investment is underway at both of these locations.

This role is site based at Runcorn which is an 18 Acre site running a 24/7 Operation with 4 rotational crews. It has 2 Bottling, 2 Canning lines and 1 Kegging production line. There are 90+ SKUs with 16 different Beer/Liquid types covering producing on average 23million cases of product per annum.

About the role

As the Manufacturing Reliability Engineer at Diageo's Beer Packaging Site, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability across our site. You will accurately record and report the outcomes of any maintenance problems via our maintenance systems to facilitate the sharing of best practices.

Key Responsibilities are;

  • Ensuring all assigned Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are carried out at the defined frequency and completed to the required standard.

  • Coaching operators to perform autonomous maintenance tasks, machine set ups optimisation and support growth in equipment capability as the need arises.

  • Proactively working with our Operators, Engineers and team leaders to play a pivotal role in situational problem solving and finding solutions.

  • Supporting capital expenditure projects, including installation, commissioning and testing within area as required.

  • Responsible for feeding into early equipment management.

  • Daily Tier meetings and performance-based consultations to raise and address persistent performance issues.

  • You will use data analysis to scope and deliver ‘improvement projects’ which support compliance, waste, cost and performance reliability.

  • You will review and improve our maintenance strategy, ensuring we are a proactive and condition-based engineering department as opposed to preventative and reactive

  • Are a time served mechanical or electrical engineer or technician with an understanding of the opposite core skill and have relevant qualifications and proven knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles.
