City of Littleton Transportation Planner Intern in Littleton, Colorado
The City of Littleton is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Transportation Planner Intern. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the planning and implementation of transportation projects ranging from small neighborhood improvements to large, regionally significant construction initiatives.

Hiring pay range: $21.30 - $23.53 per hour
Work Schedule:
The position will work part-time during the school year (15-20 hours per week), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., four days per week and may increase to full-time hours (up to 40 hours per week) during school breaks, depending on budget and work availability. The internship is anticipated to run through August 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension based on budget and need.
This position may be able to telework but will also be expected to work at the office in person, as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect and process field data, which may involve climbing ladders, driving city vehicles, and carrying materials weighing 20-30 lbs.
Prepare engaging and informative presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, and/or Adobe Illustrator for staff and stakeholders.
Revise and provide constructive feedback on consultant deliverables.
Participate as a member of project teams, contributing to discussions, planning, and execution.
Support transportation projects that address issues from neighborhood-level to regionally significant infrastructure improvements.
Collects and analyzes crash data, traffic counts, and pedestrian/bicycle counts, and prepare associated reports or present at committee meetings.
Inventories and assists in the mapping of multimodal facilities utilizing ArcGIS Pro/Online.
Prepare and assist with development of communication materials for social media, Littleton Report Print/Online, and other communication channels.
Review and analyze resident requests and public input received through the various channels such as the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program or Pilot Project Survey.
Assist and staff events focused on active transportation education and safety (may include work hours outside of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Senior year of a Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a related field; OR
Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a related field.
An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, drug screen and physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or similar platforms.
Familiarity with 3D modeling and design tools such as Trimble SketchUp, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
Soft skills including punctuality, preparation for meetings, and effective communication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Adaptability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Commitment to providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Requires the ability to work in an office and field environment.
Tasks may involve driving city vehicles, climbing ladders, and lifting materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
Exposure to various weather conditions during fieldwork.
