Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
Primarily day shift typically beginning at 6:00 am, Monday through Friday. Typically 1 out of 6 weekends, one summer and one winter holiday required.
Job Summary
The emergency general surgery and trauma ICU clinical pharmacist will provide pharmacy services via rotation through the following services as part of a multidisciplinary team at the University of Kentucky: emergency general surgery ICU, trauma ICU, trauma floor and emergency general surgery ward. The pharmacist will work as part of the care team in the ICU, and will serve as 1 of 4 pharmacists assigned to this specialty area. As part of UK Healthcare, the pharmacist will have opportunities to precept residents (PGY1, PGY2 Critical Care, PGY2 Emergency Medicine) and APPE students, as well as participate in the education of general surgery residents and Surgical Critical Care fellows.

The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
